can you give a review of ap2 vs ap1, being a long term owner of both cars? amazing that you've owned the '08 for a longer period of time than the '02.
What took you so long to ask this question after having owned the '08 for 10 years now?

jeez, didn't realize this was posted 4 years ago.
still, the "first" thing he noticed was in '08 but he didn't ask the question in 8 years later in 2014? doesn't make sense.

Heres my opinion on the ap2 vs ap1. I used to have an ap1 2000 and now a ap2 2005. The ap1 is more fun to drive hands down. The clutch is more stiff and the cabin is slightly smaller making it feel more compact. The ap2 door panels are half an inch thinner giving you slightly more room. Look it up if you don’t believe me I did a lot of research on this and I’m actually thinking about swapping my ap2 panels for ap1. The ap2 is everything what people have already stated before on the forums. It’s more refined, less dramatic, and less tail happy. The saying ap2 is the better car but the ap1 is the better s2000. You just have to drive both to understand. I also tried out an ap1 transmission today that someone had for sale and when I was putting it into gear they were a lot more crisp and shorter. Night and day difference. Ppl really have to drive an ap1 to know how much shorter it is.

i've driven an ap2 around the streets, but you can't really tell the difference that way.
i've sat passenger in an ap2 on the track, and the BIGGEST difference is that the rear-end WILL NOT slide out. VERY STABLE.
i've tried to replicate this as much as i could in my ap1 by using a stronger front sway bar, and using ap2 wheels, and it's has done a lot for my ap1 stability.
i might also add, dialing out the toe-in that my alignment guy liked to use for "stability" really helped a lot with snap oversteer. although it's true that static toe-in helps with higher speed stability, what they don't factor in with the ap1 is that dynamic toe-in is too dramatic and can contribute to "snap" oversteer. as i complained more about rear stability, the more toe-in he used, which made matters MUCH WORSE. running less rear toe-in improved matters greatly.
