Default Door lock issue

Strange door lock issue that has recently popped up. I haven't been driving the car at all lately, so it has been sitting, so I guess I don't know when, why, or how this happened.
When I go to unlock the door, either with the remote or manually with the key, it unlocks, but I have to open it IMMEDIATELY or it is locked again. You don't hear it lock, it just is. Once you get in the car and shut the door, ot's locked again. Can't use the unlock button on the door to open it, so have to press the button on the key fob, and again, open it IMMEDIATELY.
The trunk pops just fine with the remote or the key.
Any thoughts? I'd like to try and fix this before I try and sell it.
It's a 2007.

Thanks!

Maybe, pull and clean the fuse associated with the front door locks?

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking too. I plan to give that a shot this weekend when I get the chance.

Thanks!

The lock/unlock lever (inside) the broken (11/28) and no longer attached to the lock mechanism. Remove the trim (13/29) piece to confirm the lock mechanism bar (16/32) is no longer attached.

So, my life has been crazy for a while now and I am just now able to turn my attention towards this. Thanks for the help, this is indeed the problem. So, I guess I have to replace the entire inner handle piece?
