Dyno without vtec?
So I was paging through the N/A thread looking at all the various I/H/E dyno posts and such and then it hit me, has anyone ever dynoed the S2000 with vtec turned off, then with it on? I dunno just a little curious.
if you tuned the car on a standalone, that wouldn't go into limp home mode and throw lots of codes without the vtec cam, you could run the car on the dyno. It wouldn't be very nice though as the car would run out of power soon after 6k rpms. I look at VTEC as a high power cam, with a supplemental low cam to help with idle and DD stuff, not the other way around! Depending on how efficient your system becomes, you can lower the cam point even further than stock to help with power increase! The opposite is true of inefficient setup like a log manifold on a turbo kit, where you need to either increase VTEC or keep it the same as stock!
I am not quite sure we are on the same page here lol. My friend had a prelude and his vtec solenoid when bad so there was no vtec crossover. So what I was wondering was, what kind of numbers our motor would produce through the top of the power band with no crossover into vtec.
