ECU Bolts?
You answered it in your question "a special tool" its a special socket.
Some ECU's have normal bolts others have these "special" ones.
You could try a "star drive" socket but that will only work if the ECU bolts are not that tight in.
I ended up chiseling two out of the four off to get mine out.

Why did they use special bolts on mine
lol.
I've got to take mine in to the dealers in a few days to have the mugen cooling mods and hondata manifold gasket fitted, so would they loosen them for me? just have to think up a story to tell them why I want to take it off

Biker1 thats what I was thinking about the warranty, I've still got 4-5 months of it to run, didn't really want them to know I've been messin with the ECU just in case I need to make a claim.
So its a BFH, a socket thats a little tight, and bang that sucker on and hope for the best.
The top bolt looks like it could be a problem, but it looks like it fits to the ECU so I could dremmel that one off.
Brute force and sheer ignorance, sounds like markies favorite job.
