Ok if this has mentioned forgive me, but upon my own experimentation with back up fuse removed and running, I found that the sucker disables or bypass immobilizer!
Yikes this is not good to find out, this is so ridiculously easy if you want to bypass immobilizer function.
I hope I am wrong but I am pretty sure immobilizer function goes down with it if you chose to remove the back up fuse.

Great! Now that you have let the cat out of the bag, if S2000's start getting stolen all the time, it will be YOUR fault!!!

I find this very hard to believe, unless the engineer who designed this was smoking crack. :-) How did you verify that the immobilizer was not working?

I may be wrong mas,
however I can be right
If the key symbol isn't flashing after you take out the key, I believe the immobilzer isn't active for sure.
Sure way to find out is use key without the chip in it to see if that starts the car.
I know who has chipless key so I should be able to get back to you guys who are curious.

If I am right, this is a damn shame to defeat immobilizer function.
I guess I have to start investing in anti-theft stuff.

Your're right, that would be the only way to verify. I would not worry too mcuh about the flashing key symbol, it's just a light. It would be great if you can try this out so those without alarms may start thinking about getting one. Thanks a lot!

I have been away from the board for several months and I have been going through topics that interest me.

I live in Louisiana and I have the same heat and humidity issues that my fellow Florida and Texas owners have. There are some days where it is so that the car just seems to rev with a perception of no power.

What is the status of this mod? Do the people who have done it still believe in it? Was it ever confirmed that it did disable the immobilizer?

Thanks...

I can percieve no difference with the fuse out. I did it to prevent the MIL for the cat/secondary O2.

I don't think the immobilizer is a problem. The light doesn't mean anything; all it indicates is that the ECU is strobing the light to tell you that it's functiong. I think that with the fuse out the dash and the interface to the ECU goes dead.

The transponder in the column energizes the key and reads the code when the key is turned on. If this code is not sent to the ECU, it will not start. I don't see how pulling the fuse would affect this at all since the immobilizer has to pull power from the main power, not the backup. I think it's just the LED for the indicator that loses power.

Thanks... I found it hard to believe that fooling the immobilizer would be that easy. My gut tells me you are dead on with it just being a dashboard interface issue.

I reset mine last night just to give it a try since lately my car has felt like it lost something.
I had even been debating if I should spend the extra money for the supercharger or just change cars.
Well, wether it's my imagination or not, the car definitely felt like it's old self after the reset. It just seems to pull harder and put a back on my face.

To reset the ECU, can you guys just take out the fuse and put it back in? That's what I do to reset my ECU.
