Eight Ball - noise . . .Differential
OK so its been there for some time but I really am starting to notice it -
Logically the cause would be like the crush ring being crushed too much and letting the pinion gear slide back and forth slightly. . .
Symptoms are:
noise (sounds like a billiard ball striking another)but faint) at initial forward torque and at initial reverse torque (engine braking)
Moving at slow speeds (5-10mph) I can make it happen by light throttle and light engine braking, both times noise happend at beginning of change.
Anybody else with this noise? Should not be the torsen because it happens in turns and straight with 100% traction.

sounds yucky to me....be careful and don't stray too far from your dealership. i see a tow truck in your future.
now that i think about it i did ask them to check out a noise i was hearing from back there when i went into reverse...this was quite a while ago that i asked them this. they said no problem found. also when my wheels were not spinning freely when lifted (std. diff test) they changed the fluid and left it at that.
Be sure they get to the root of your problem and not pass it off as something minor. Although understandable that they would do that, now there is definately becoming a history with these things blowing out.

Luckily I own a flatbed trailor and a truck to pull it, AND my S2000 is not my daily driver so Im going to check it out today- crawl under there and check it over - if its not the mounts Im screwed - but have the warranty left - I dont feel like going back to FL the only dealer that I've been to thats worth a crap.
Classic Honda in Orlando - They were honestly the BEST service department that I have EVER been to.
Here's the story
I was in Fl on vacation, went to Orlando for an S2000 meet that was hosted by Classic Honda. I was introduced to Billy Walker, the "gold team" service manager - I was so impressed with his attitude and outlook on customer relations that I decided it was well worth my trip down there (888 miles) to get the TSB's done-
For one they have the experience with the tranny's and
2nd, they didnt question my abilities as a driver, like some places around here have. Also they didnt question if I had the real problem or not- It was quite evident when they took out the gears that they were grinding - even if I couldnt make the problem occure at the time of drop off.
Well I got there the monday after S2k Days in Ashville and they didnt let me down. They get top ratings from me, and mechanical work was exellent.
So if you call or go ask for Billy Walker and hell do his best to help with any problems you might have.

I just took mine in today for the same kind of problem. I'm waiting to hear back on what they say!
I'm also having them do the two TSB's....they had updates to the gear grind and the tranny buzzing dated early June.
I'm also having a squeeking in the ac checked and it's been hard to shift...are our cars falling apart?
