Default Electric Trunk release won't work

The electric trunk release using the button in the car and by remote doesn't work. I bought the car like this. The trunk actuator has a 3 wire connector. What should they read for power bwhen the trunk release button is pressed?

I checked the fuse by the driver kick panel. It looks ok.

Is there a relay that powers the trunk actuator? Where is that located? How do I check power and ground to it?

Break in the wire, right where the harness hinges in the trunk. Almost guaranteed.

Thanks Bill. That is a great tip. But how would I check there for a wire breakage? I guess with probe pins that I stick through the wire insulation on the harness.
I didn't mention at the trunk release actuator (which is on the trunk lid) I got constant +12v on one of the connector wires. I find that weird, since it implies the negative is what signals the actuator to release the trunk. Do you know what the other 2 connectors should read on voltage and when?

BIG THANK YOU TO BILLMAN250!! The 3 wires at the trunk hinge inside the harness between two factory wire looms that power the trunk release and probably the center brake light were broken clean off -- maybe they were cut. The wires were cut clean even the insulation! Thanks!!!
