Default Electrical Gremlins - please help

Guys, I will try to be brief:

Symptoms:

1. Cruise Control stopped working one day
2. Secondary O2 sensor DTC gets thrown
3. Finally, I am driving and my power steering & abs light turn on, and gauge cluster goes dim. The car is obviously running off only battery.
4. I test the voltage output of the alternator using a battery tester and it's reading 0 output.
5. I buy and replace the alternator using the more expensive brand at Autozone (Dura something).
6. Amazingly, after a long drive today, I get the same symptoms, test the alternator, and the output is still zero.

Is it possible I bought a bad alternator or is something else is going on? This is so odd. I have never had these types of problems.

I followed the Helms manual for replacement of the alternator explicitly. The belt is not slipping and the ground and green connector are firmly connected. This is not an erroneous installation.

Any help greatly appreciated! I'm at a loss.

Thanks,

J

I had a problem with my CRX like that. Turned out it was a fuse for the alternators field or somethin... Did the they test the original alternator when you purchased the new one? Might be about that time..

Did you replace the battery as well?

Yes, the battery was replaced. I tested the original alternator and compared to another S2000 and mine was definitely putting out zero voltage. Jettfiery, you have had problems with Autozone alternators? This is very frustrating because I have to remove my aftercooler to do this job. ARGH!
