Electrical problem
try cleaning the throttle body, the butterfly can get gunked up and cause stumbling/stalling. If it's not in bad shape, then maybe a TPS issue?
And do what Kirpich suggested.... these are the simple first things to try

If you're FI with the EMS, I suggest you have a tuner look at your map. I have the same problem, where it's idling up and down, and when it's hot in the summer, it even stalls. The problem's in the tune's temperature compensation tables.
Get a wideband and start looking at the AFRs when it's doing it.
Cranking problem could be because of CPS or Camshaft position sensor going bad or losing good connection (loose connecor). Check all 3 of them. These things are doable before spending any serious cash on pulling the head, etc.
How is your compression? check that, you can do it yourself by either buying or loaning a compression tester gauge. I bought one form Harbor Freight, it's garbage. Try autozone or Advance auto parts, or whatever you have in Canada.
You probably should also do a leakdown test.
Double-check your grounds. Very important. Don't forget the one on the back of the head (between the head and the firewall), and the one by the ECU in the footwell. Let us know.
