Default Starting Problem - Mystery Solved

I had an issue with this a few weeks ago. The car would turn, but not fire, and it didn't feel like it was trying to fire either. After a quick call to Loftus, for advice, I disconnected the battery to reset the ECU and it fired on the button. Job done I thought.

The problem recurred last night after the Herts Meet. This time, I disconnected the battery and waited, then fully expecting the car to start.... Nothing. It's the same problem, it spins without problems (so not the battery) but won't fire. There are no obvious loose wires and everything under the bonnet seems normal.

I'm heading back to the car in an hour or so to have another crack at getting it to start, have any of you got any ideas? Please bear in mind that I know my way around a spanner, electrickery isn't a speciality (read understood at all).

Ta in advance

You should be able to hear the fuel pump prime behind your head when you turn the ignition.

Does sound like maybe an immobiliser on it's way out though.

Having spent a lot of time at Euromeet listening to the same problem.
My money is on the POS alarm/immobiliser.
