Engine Hesitation STILL DONT KNOW WHATS WRONG!
Okay i've posted this up before, but i still don't know the answer. I did the map wack and replaced the map sensor with a new denso one.
symptoms what happens is when i'm driving it'll hesitate. Like i mean bad and jerk the car. It happens at like around 2-3k range and when im driving on the highway or anywhere else and i give it 70% throttle it's perfectly fine, but when i give it wot it sounds 2x louder but it slows down and i barely accelerate. Thing is pissing me off at this point and i really don't know what to do. took it to honda and they told me it was the map sensor and i told them i changed that out. They hooked it up to a monitor and couldn't get it to reproduce the problem at all and when they did get to reproduce they said that it was just running rich and i was loading the system.
it hesitates all the time tho and usually resetting the ecu does the trick by pulling the fuse out for 30 seconds... but yesterday when i pulled the fuse out it still did it after i reset the ecu... this thing is a big ass headache and i'll be going turbo next week, but i want to figure this out before i go boost obviously...
if any s2000 gurus know what is going on with my car i would be greatly appreciated with the help. so far i've dumped 70 for the new map sensor and 40 for the new plugs and 250 at the stealership for telling me something that i already knew...
oh BTW this all started to happen the day after my one scca event and 2 days after i changed my spark plugs to ngk plugs. model # 7772... it comes and goes and sometimes it'll be great for 2 weeks and sometimes it'll be bad for a couple of days or weeks and go away. Most of the time i just have to press in the clutch and throttle it and it's drivable again.

sounds like it isn't burning the air fuel mixture once it gets to a certain ratio, either poor spark or overly rich fuel mixture. I'm willing to bet it will all go away once you go turbo, assuming your going to get a proper tune on the air-fuel, with different spark plug gaps and injectors. Just make sure the coils are up to the task and you'll have all the potential issues covered.
Well jfusion i guess we were both wrong... i feel like a jackass and don't even feel like posting up why it was bogging out... I guess it shows that you should check them most simplest things first.... So i checked my IAC last night and checked the voltage on my tps... everything was perfect.... so i had a crack on my stock intake hose so i ghetto taped it a few months back when i noticed the crack.... Well what i forgot to do was clean my damn air filter.... That thing was sooo dirty i hit it on the ground 20 times and dirt came out (a lot of dirt) every single time i hit it... The filter was soo clogged up i guess it was starving my engine... So i cleaned the filter and recharged it with the k&n kit that i bought long time ago for my k&n intake and since this was a k&n cone i washed it and recharged... Drove 180 miles to pick my new friends car up today and didn't hesitate once and actually i got 256 miles out of my tank... pretty sadd because i was getting around 180-210 before... I was going a steady 75-85 the whole time... Like i said before i feel like an ass... a lot of money wasted trying to figure out what was wrong with my car and it was the damn intake filter... 2 map sensors which one of them is still new dont' know why i bought 2 of them but i did... honda diagnostics which was 100 bucks + the stupid labor... and countless hours on s2ki trying to figure out what was wrong...
lol... thanks im glad i got it fixed to... still a dumbass for not checking the obvious and not doing routine maintenance... i always change my diff, tranny, motor, etc fluids when every time when i have to (honda recommendations) and i over look cleaning my damn filter... i guess from running it in the salty roads it had a lot to do with it....
can't believe honda couldn't figure it out... this is why i don't bother spending gobs of money on any mechanic... trouble shooting myself and going through the forums to search the common problems that s2000 owners have is the best way to go.
