Sorry, should have gone into more detail.

I had the rods disconnected and moved the pistons around freely. Found no feeling of a loose pin. Not sure if it was worth it.. I have the worst fear that I didn't torque the end caps right.

I dropped the oil on mine, I didnt drop the sump because i was stuck for time this weekend. The oil that came out wasnt the cleanest but there were no signs of metals shavings in it or anything out of the ordinary,

I put the new correct oil in it and it has made no difference to the noise at all. Its booked into a honda specialist next tuesday. he is going to have a good look round it too see what he finds, And he is also going to adjust the tappets. Ill see what he says and let you guys know

Does anyone know the oil path on the S from the oil pick up to the head? Does the vtec solenoid get oil before or after the TCT?

This is definitely a thread we need to keep going on. Hopefully one of us solves the problem so we can all fix the issue.

Hmmmm So do you think the noise we all have has something to do with the oil Flow? Like maybe oil isnt reaching a certain part of the engine? Or maybe one of the oil feed is blocked so when the oil pressure is low at idle somthing is being starved?

Sucks that the pictures are gone, But i have just read most of the thread and its just mostly people arguing about oil types, but it is interesting that everybody is using a much thinner oil than me 0w-30 Oil Im using 5w-40

What oil are you guys using?

I think if the vtec solenoid gets oil before the tensioner, any leaks there could affect oil flow to the tensioner. The oil passage to the tensioner is pretty small so I believe it depends on oil pressure. Affecting that oil pressure with a weeping vtec solenoid could cause a slight amount of slack on the guide. It might not be enough to cause TCT noise, but over time could cause slightly more wear on the guides over an extended period. Just a WAG. A lot of people have vtec solenoid leaks and don't even know it. It's not enough to drip, but if you run your finger under the TCT where it meets the head you might have a little line of oil on your finger.

Again it's just a wild guess. I actually have no idea how oil flows through the engine other than the obvious stuff.

It would also stand to reason that it could be the screen too right? I have never cleaned mine, I have never actually even looked into how to clean it.

I was thinking along the lines of the top triangle gasket.

Have you checked the timing chain guides?
