Default Engine light comes on and then goes off

Lately my engine light has been comin on after I run it, and when I go back to normal driving the engine light will come on, but after a few drives it will cut off or sometimes when I turn it on in the morning to let it warm up the engine light will come back on then when i get somewhere and park it the light cuts off. When the light is on the car still runs fine it idles right at a grand and it doesnt bog at all. I replaced the sparkplugs with NGK's not to long ago and it still does it my friend said it might be my distributor coils..I dont know help me out

Flashing check engine light while engine is running = misfire bad enough to damage catalytic converter.

If it stored misfire DTC's for cylinders 1-4 then it's misfiring. Which can be caused by many different things.

Go outside and tighten your gas cap. When my dad uses the car and puts gas in it the CEL always comes on because he doesn't get the gas cap tight enough... he's used to his TL... its much easier Mostly because the gas cap needs to be replaced on my car.
Go check it out... might just be an easy fix.

Loose fuel caps don't cause misfires.
