Engine Light & Misfire ... HELP
Hi All,
so i drove home tonight without any problems. parked up the car for a few hours and then went to drive back home. The engine light came on and a misfire quickly developed. Would be keen to know your thoughts on this. have put a bit of additional info below.
The car:
2002 AP1, 93,000 miles
Symptoms leading up to this:
Noticed more exhaust gasses the last few weeks but assumed just because of the cold weather and condensation. has been running fine up till now.
Symptoms now:
Jumped in the car tonight and it was fine for about 20 seconds then the engine check light came on and a misfire developed. It was low on fuel so i drove straight to the garage and filled up with high octane (as always) in the hope it was just because of low fuel (god bless digital fuel dials )
THe fill up hasn't helped (£65 well spent!) and drove about 800 meters back to my house. now left the car outside while i sit here weeping into my keyboard wondering what the **** just happened to my pride and joy.
if anyone could let me know what is the best plan of action that would be great.
Cheers
matt

Spark plugs, whats the CEL codes? Get them checked for free at a parts store. Also you just filled up, maybe the gas cap triggered it? Reset the ECU by pulling the 7.5A "backup" fuse under the dash and see if it's gone?
