engine out

Default engine out

ok i have a s2000 with the bottom end gone and need to replace the engine im able to souce one with a box on itwould i be better of just taking the engine and box out as one lump or what and is there much in it im hope to just undo all blots and get it all out in one

Take it out the bottom in one piece . Much easier that way .

u have to remove the rack and sub frames etc ? i woukld be better off doing that then ?

The best way to do it is to lower the subframe with the engine/trans sitting on it . You would need a lift for this though . If you dont have a lift then you will have to yank it out the top . Doing it this way requires the trans to be pulled back from the engine prior to engine removal . Ive done it both ways and dropping it with the cradle is WAY easier !

so i cant remove the engine and and leave the gearbox undistrubed, nor can i remove all the shit at the front of the engine bay and bring it all out in one. i dont have a lift and 36 inches is to high for blocks ? so u gotta break it in two and slide box back can i confirm there no way i can leave box and just break at bell housing ??

You have to pull the trans back from the engine . There are two bolts at the top of the bellhousing that are damn near impossible to remove . If you pulled the cylinder head first and then removed both side engine mounts dropping the engine lower then you could leave the trans in . It would need to be lowered though . The oil pan being removed does not help .

so there is no way of getting it all out the top in one or getting the enigne out with out moving box is this how we all see it
