Default Engine Ping?

Anyone else experience engine ping? At just over 1000 mi my engine is pinging even when idle, heard even with the top up and lots of traffic noise waiting at stop lights. Sounds like its coming from in front of the passenger side under the hood. I can understand some ping when you turn off the engine. I've used the recommended premium for all fill ups. Might have to take it in for a check up.

That's not "pinging," at least not in the traditional sense of "knock." The knock sensor and ECU detect and correct it long before you can hear it. What you are likely hearing is the valve tick which is VERY noticeable when it's idling (noise changes cold and hot).
