Default Engine Ticking Noise

Have a ap2 06 with 48k miles. Billman TCT was installed 2k miles ago and has supertech TI retainers and dual valve springs. Recently, Valve adjustment done and factory spark plugs were replaced. Car’s ticking gets quicker as I rev it higher. Car drives perfectly fine and Vtec engages properly.

What could be the issue?

Maybe try to narrow down source using a tube or section of pipe.

The frequency of the noise suggests valve train noise. Why were the springs and retainers replaced?

There was no reason at all for it as the previous owner told me. A friend of his who was a mechanic recommended him to change it because of the durability and reliability you get from it. This noise starting coming up after I got a valve adjustment done from Honda.

Horrible recommendation. The AP2 valve train is indestructible right from the factory. These shops sell this stuff based purely on false rumor. The OEM parts will easily outlast it by more than TEN times. That is not an exaggeration.

Check the valve clearance yourself, it is likely far off.

Whenever anyone asked about Honda's ability to build a small, reliable, high performance engine... I refer them to the RC series on engines and bikes
