EPS Controller connections?
Because I need to get a look at the wiring layout in the connectors entering a 2005 S2K EPS controller, I'm trying to remove the factory connectors from the controller. The outside connectors, A & C detached fairly easily. The middle connector, B (P14) defies my concerted efforts. Does anyone out there know the trick?
Yes, in fact I've looked at the ETM. It still doesn't tell me how to get the center connector to detach from the EPS controller. I'm assuming the tabs on the front and back are supposed to have some impact, but I really don't want to break some plastic. Squeeze? Push? Pull? Pry out?
I thought you were looking for a pinout of the EPS connector. In the service manual on page 17-59 EPS Unit Removal/Installation it only say's: "3. Disconnect the EPS Control Unit Connectors". Not much help there. It does look like there are 3 connectors pictured. My service manual only covers up to 03, I notice you have an 05. It is unlikely although possible something has changed.
Could you post a pic of the stubborn connector?
In the begining of the Body Electrical Section of the service manual there are a couple pages that cover some of the various connectors that may be encountered. There are illustrations of some as well as descriptions of how some of the various connectors disconnect and some pointers/tips on handling.
Probably not much help either.
EDIT: My car is covered and it's drizzling here right now. If nothing happens for you by tomorrow, I'll go take a look at mine and see if I can make heads or tails of it. It's the center one that is different from the two (which look to be identical) on it's sides, correct?
EDIT: saw this in the begining of the Body Electrical section of the SM:
.All connectors have push-down release type locks (A).
.Some connectors have a clip on their side used to
attach them to a mount bracket on the body or on
another component. This clip has a pull type lock.
. Some mounted connectors cannot be disconnected
unless you first release the lock and remove the
connector from its mount bracket (A).
I just read this in the SM and have to wonder is true all the electrical connectors on the S2000 are push down release type? I have no info to the contrary, so, must be...
Anyway, maybe it's one of the connectors that's anchored to a bracket? I guess those are pull type?

I managed to separate the EPS controller from the 14 pin connector. SenderGreen provided the clue. He noted that in the general service manual there is a discussion of connectors starting on page 22-2 (Body Electrical). In the upper right hand corner of that page there is a drawing of what appears to be a 14 pin connector. An arrow with a "2" above it points to the end of a little tab. I had pressed this tab a number of times and could still not remove the connecter. Ultimately, I pressed on the tab with a small flat-blade screwdriver and heard a click. I pushed away from the controller at the same time and could see the connector separating from the controller. At that point it could simply be pulled apart by hand. Easy when you know how.
