Default EPS LIGHT AND NO POWER STEERING!

ok today i took my wheels off so i can paint them. after i took the front wheels off and left it there for a few hours then come back and put the wheels back on. but after i put the wheels back on and start the car, EPS light was on and i dont have power steering anymore. everything else work the same except for the power steering. i notice after i took the wheels off, it was slightly turned to the right, so i didnt know if that had anything to do with it. could somebody please tell me where to look and what to check for to solve my problem. thanks.

Pull the code so we can help you. Drive it a little and see if it fixes itself. may be a simple vss fault.

first thing i would do is do the "find torque sensor neutral position procedure" do a search on it its pretty simple. i had plenty of eps problems and since i did this i havent had any issues up to today and ive done plenty on maintenance since. i guess sometimes the sensors just go outta whack.

I don't think you get any codes when the EPS light comes on. I get that once in a while, usually on cold mornings. I short drive, restart, and all is well again.

When I replaced my clutch, I had to lower the engine cradle (front K-frame, or crossmember). I has the steering unit attached to it, so I had to disconnect the 2 connectors.

Forgot to reconnect then and started the car.

So all I had to do was to reconnect and restart the car. Maybe, if not making this up, do a reset on ECU, you know, disconnect the battery, and pull the 'backup' fuse for a few seconds.

Try the wire connection.

Sorry to bump an old thread but figured I might as well use this one instead of creating a new one.

Same thing is happening to me over the past week or so, EPS light turns off, check engine light turns on, after driving for a bit the EPS light turns off and power steering is restored and eventually the check engine light turns off after like 3 different drives it seems. Just a pain in the ass as when it initially kicks in, it seems the car goes into limp mode as at complete stops the engine seems to struggle at low idle. But once I turn the car off and back on it idles and drives fine.

Will stop by auto zone or some jazz to borrow their code reader next time it happens but just seeing/reading any input as to what I can do to fix it to avoid having to take it to Honda.

Buy a cheap code reader.

Next time you get a CEL, check it right away and get that code.

That is the best advice you will get.
