Default EPS Reset?

Hi!

I have lurked here for years....

Warmed my car up (Ice outside), with slightly higher than normal revs (~2250) and the EPS came on.

I could have sworn there was an EPS reset procedure, but I can't find it.

Can someone fill me in, or point the way?

Thanks!

The manual indicates that 3000 rpm for 3 minutes will generate the EPS light. I think that if you shut the car off, the next time you go for drive, that light will most likely be off. In fact, you may have already discovered this by now. If not, then you may have to go through the battery (+) disconnect for a minute or so. I don't believe pulling the "BACK UP" fuse will work for this one.

Suggestion: Don't idle higher than the car wants to on its own. Those extra thousand or so of revs won't warm the engine up any faster and as you've already found out, only causes unwanted issues.

Great Post XViper!

I figured that there was a rpm/speed/time function that would produce a fault, if the steering sensor didn't detect any steering movement.

Many years ago I saw a reset procedure on S2ki.com, but without a working search function, I can't seem to find it......

I will drive it and see if it resets on its own.

I was sitting in the car at 5am, trying to get it warm enough to de-ice the windshield, so that I could see to pull it under the lean to, to prevent any branches falling on it! I fell back on my race engine experience, where more revs will bring the engine up to temp slightly faster.

Thanks for reminding me that patience is always the best policy.

Thanks!

Actually, I believe it's tied to the speed sensor (ie, road speed).

Quick update!

I drove the car about 0.5 miles with the steering feeling very heavy, then the EPS light switched off, and the steering returned to normal.

Alls well that ends well!

See Ya!

It is. I had a CEL (P0500, Speed Sensor malfunction) today infact. After about 2 miles in traffic, the EPS light eluminated. I knew that the speed sensor issue was tied to my yellow box installation have an open connection that was intermittant because I have been trying to find the thing for months now. It always happens after I have been down there connecting/disconnecting AEM EMS, E-manage, etc. So I just kicked the panel and off it went, and on went the speedo.

P.S. I found the connection that was killing me today too. So I win!
