Default EPS wont work

So about 2 years ago i replace my ap1 EPS steering rack with an ap2 steering rack.. I had to replace the connector on the harness so with would fit (the wiring fit without a problem) - I thought this would fix my steering problem but the EPS light remains on. Im not sure what i did wrong. I wired the whole thing... The EPS fuse looks fine to me (is not broken in the middle) do i need to use an ap2 control unit (EPS Module)? if so will the ap1 wire harness plug into the ap2 control unit?

please advise as i could really use any help i can get, ive been stuck without power steering for nearly two years, it is not comfortable and i miss the power steering

here is the deal buddie.

04-05 AP2 EPS Control unit uses the same AP1 EPS unit connectors. (im running it on my car a OK )
04-05 AP2 steering rack also plugs into the AP1 harness with no issues.
AP2 steering rack + ap1 EPS unit im very unsure of the compatibility. (should work in theory if its a 04-05 EPS unit)

on my car (2002 ap1) i got into a little fender bender and the steering wheel was shaking at idle. so i bought an 04-05 ap2 rack + 04-05 ap2 EPS unit.

i first started by replacing the ap1 EPS unit with the ap2 EPS unit and problem of shaking was solved. no EPS light and full functionality of my power steering with no issues (maybe my control unit was bad?)

in regards to your question make sure what year ap2 rack you have because im certain the 06+ ap2 racks have different electronics and EPS wiring connectors.

i would begin by determining what year ap2 your rack is from and the EPS unit as well...

The AP1 and AP2 steering racks are different. They may bolt up and wire up without issue, but the steering ratio on the AP2 rack is slower than the AP1. I would change the EPS computer located under the hood to the appropriate one so it can match the steering ratio you now have with the new rack.
