Default ESM installed today

I am at home today and installed the ESM this morning.

Went out to run some errands and it did seem to drive a little smoother and have better throttle response. Impressions were a little subtle, though, might just be in my head. Vteced a few times and didn't seem to feel any significant difference from when the check valve works right. I'll probably have a firmer impression after driving to and from work tomorrow.

BTW, if I have to mess with the ECU again, anyone know where I can hire a certified elf .... what a pain in the a** to get in a position where I could use both hands It was like training to do one of those contortionist stunts. Is it easier to unbolt the whole ECU?

John, you beat me to it on posting the impression on Comptech ESM.

Yes I too found that the effect is subtle and indeed my buttometer felt better throttle response. Nothing to be crazed about but obviously something is being done better.
I am glad that you were able to do this yourself and do it right.
I tried to do this myself and I failed to identify some wires from ECU plugs, so after feeling the cramps from getting down and dirty, I said 'F^&$ it' and took it to my mechanic. Unfortunately I didn't have the camera at my disposal at the time so I can't do my usual installation picture report.
As big as you are, I am very impressed that you were able to do this.
Big kudos to you!

When I get a chance I will try to snap some photos.

I didn't have any problem identifying things, just doing the stuff that required two hands. Got kinda pissed off when I started though, cause I pulled the car out of the garage and even put the top down so I would have plenty of light to see, then it stayed cloudy and I still had to use my shop light. Except now of course I have to haul out the big extension cord because I'm out in the driveway.

Probably a good thing my neighbors weren't home, though, as every now and then when I got frustrated I would just scream or cuss real loud. At one point while trying to get my shoulders underneath I think I was on my back with my legs hanging over the drivers seat Actually, maybe that explains why my back is sore.

Took me about 1.5 hours to do 20 minutes of work

The ESM would screw up the AEM computer ...

Yes it would be the blue one among the 3 connectors.
And good luck with the install.

Further impressions:

Drove my wife's car to work yesterday, but mine today - only "got on it" once, and it seemded to pull harder than it ever has. By "got on it", I mean redline in 2nd thru 4th (too much traffic to keep it going after that).

Again, the car does seem a little smoother with better throttle response. Just vtecing in a single gear doesn't really seem any different than before, but running thru 3 or 4 gears in an all out acceleration seems much better

Impressions-

All out acceleration with the check valve: 1st gear or two is usually very strong, then sometimes (not always) the next higher gear seems a little "flat"; that is, the acceleration doesn't seem to pick up like in the other gears. Sometimes it's "flat" two gears in a row (higher gears). Sometimes this doesn't happen at all, sometimes it's very noticeable, sometimes it's just a little noticeable.

All out acceleration with the ESM(please note only one sample experience): pulls strong in every gear; if anything, seems to pull stronger with each subsequent shift. From second gear, I seemed to hit 100mph awful fast . I'm not saying I never felt this with the check valve, only that with the check valve it was a variable experience.

If the car behaves consistently as described above with the ESM, it will have been well worth the money.

we have actually done a dyno with a check valve setup and with an electronic bypass like the ESM, in the early days we called it the ghostbooster.
