Default Exedy Hyper Clutch Installed

I installed my Exedy Hyper Clutch this weekend. The installation was very straight-forward and I didn't run into any major complications. The clutch provides 2200 pounds of clamping force and seems to be handling the power my SC is throwing at it. Being that it has so much clamping force and that it is a six puck clutch, I was expecting that it would be tough on the leg and tough to start/shift smoothly. It is only tough on the leg if you are sitting in stop and go traffic. As far as starting/shifting smoothly, either the clutch is very good or I am just really good with a clutch

Here are some pictures of the clutch:

I will report back after a few track events with how the clutch is holding up, but for now, I am absolutely thrilled with it.

Many thanks to David at R&D Motorsports for recommending the clutch, getting it to me in a hurry and ensuring I knew what I was doing when I installed it

Now that it handles all the power the SC throws at it, will that power just be transferred to the next-weakest part? What gets upgraded next? Rear end? Axles? Keep us posted.

YS- you never cease to amaze me. I was just looking at the exedy clutch last week and was going to start a post as to if anyone's had luck with it -and here you are with yours installed. Do you like the Exedy flywheel as well? It it lighter like a Toda? This clutch was recommended to me as well by a different source. I was leary, as I never heard of them in the S2000 circles. My concern is it too much clutch for my mods? I don't launch either. I just don't want to tear anything down the line up. What are your thoughts? I guess they are the makers of a lot of the Jap. cars original equipment clutches. Phil

It is a one piece unit with the flywheel/pressure plate and clutch. I believe several of the Japanese racing teams are running this clutch. I really like it so far and will post back info as I get more miles on it.

I was going to buy the ACT now it looks like I might have to spend double. Keep us in the loop as I am going to "milk" my 2800 mile stock clutch for as long as it doesn't slip. Let me know how it feels when it breaks in. Phil

How easy was the install? Do you need any special tools? I am not up for the install anytime soon after last weekend (supercharger install), but I will be sometime. Oh yeah...I gotta send you your crank pully tool back....I almost forgot about it . Ill do that soon. Thanks again for letting me use it

I have expierenced this type of clutch. I used to have Cusco Super single. The grip was AWESOME but the floating disk of the clutch was making weird sound when the clutch is in. Firstly , when I got it in the car I was freaked out cuz of that weird and loud rattling sound so I wonder if the clutch wasn't installed properly but I found out it was normal. All these single or twin plate clutch does it.
