Exedy Hyper Clutch Installed
Gernby,
I could be wrong, but if your sig is up to date, you don't have a SC or any "major" hp mods to your car. How are you qualified to make a call like "but I don't see any justification to replace the OEM clutch until it is worn out"? Just my opinion but you don't have enough quantitative data to make a call in this situation. My stock clutch was toast within 48 hours if me installing my turbo. Again, just my opinion / first hand experience talking.

Lot more power/torque to contend with on the shift to second gear when you release the clutch at 6000 rpm when youz blown....... stock clutch can't hang for long.
You must remove the blower unit when you lower the engine for the clutch R&I because of the front cross member.

The problem I have is that the S/C appt. is this weekend and I had to wait along time for an appt. with the "good" guy, I just can't wait any longer anyway!!! Plus the clutch won't be here for a few days. So I am GOING to have to do the clutch after the S/C. YS-when it comes time I might have some more questions on the way you did it . Phil

Well w/ the Comptech setup (what do you have again?) the oil return line is sitting an RCH off the trailing edge of the front cross member (you had to bend it for the install remember?) so any lowering of the engine or tilting back could put a large side load on the fitting coming out the bottom of the blower.

gernby- I have followed much of your advice in the many technical posts for a long time and feel you know what your talking about. I will keep you posted after my S/C install and will give you an update on how my original unabused 2900 mile clutch holds out. My friend with his Comptech S/C S2000 drives his MUCH differently than I do, so I too, am curious to see what transpires. I drive fast and sometimes shift hard, but I don't launch-race as he does. I know how to abuse a car after growing up with SS 454 Chevelles, 400 Firebirds, 427 Impala SS, (plus driving dealership demos for 17 years) and have done my fair share of horsewhipping, but I really respect the S2000 and I don't "pussy" it, I know the difference in "driving" and beating. We will use my car as the little experiment on this clutch issue. Thanks Phil
