Well, I've had my Veilside Ti installed for about 6 weeks now, and I like it very much. As stated, it is a true cat-back exhaust, includes a silencer, but you do have to make your own paper gasket for it. I believe the gasket deal is not uncommon, but still unfortunate. At $700 and 6 lbs, it is a steal, especially if you are after maximum weight reduction with a performance gain to boot.

No, I don't have any dyno data to back that up, but I did do 4 passes with my G-tech pro before and 4 passes after the swap. It showed a 6-7 hp gain, but 3 of that is attributable to the power/weight gain (I ran with the same weight # on the G-tech for all runs). A 3-4 hp real gain ain't bad, and it certainly beats a loss, which seems to be the case for more than a few exhausts.

I also ran the Veilside on a flow bench, but I haven't yet had time to put the stock exhaust on the bench to compare. Maybe next week.

...and before you ask, I don't have any videos or sound clips of the exhaust (at least yet), and I haven't yet tried the included silencer. I can't bring myself to stuff a cork in my baby's tailpipe. Yes, the exhaust is loud, but I've owned louder vehicles, so I'm already desensitized. Besides, I didn't buy Spa Yellow to be inconspicuous. Actually, with the top down, it isn't bad at all (top up is pretty bad around 4000 rpm).

i just installed thetanabe racing medalion which has removeable baffles and promises increased horsepower with baffles removed. i installed dc header at the same time. the exhaust is louder than stock with the baffles in and i think sounds great; with the baffles out it is amazingly loud and i can barely stand it but i think i can feel more power. attracts too much attention problably from the men in blue. the dc header apparently smooths out the power curve and vtec is less noticeable. the exhaust looks great by the way.

What are baffles? How much you get the Tanabe for? Thanks

same function as a silencer.

I just rode in a friends s2k with the spoon header and exhaust....and it sounds amazing. Indeed it is loud, but the sound is really good. It was not loud to the point where one could not hear each other talkin, but it requires some shouting...heh. But i think its well worth it. With the top up it was a little muffled, didn't sound as good as it did with the top down .I also got a chance to ride in a s2k wid a mugen intake and exhaust and the sound was nice a low, if i had the money i would go wid that set-up, but i think after hearing the spoon's (and the price) i'd personaly go wid that.

Wind, you should have dropped the weight input of your gTECH following the exhaust install because your #'s are not accurate. The device's horsepower reading is based on a weight that technically, does not exist for the car and thus, because the device has been "told" your car is HEAVIER than it actually was, the fact that you accelerated at a rate determined by the unit to be responsible for a particular horsepower # means the reading shown by the gTECH is higher than it should have been. Probably by a few hp. Think of it this way...if you did a series of runs by yourself and then another series with a passenger (but used the same weight), your horsepower reading would be a LOT lower because now the unit is sensing it's taking you much longer to get to the point where maximum horsepower is being achieved. Because you DROPPED weight with the exhaust but input the same weight, the unit's horsepower reading will be HIGHER than what you're actually making. I've been using the gTECH for almost four years now with more than 200 runs total on various cars. Many guys (not assuming you) don't realize if the run is being done on a surface that is even SLIGHTLY downhill, the reading for a timed run will be artificially higher than what the car actually ran. Not trying to be anal, but to get the very best hp-evalution results with the unit, even the smallest weight increases/decreases must be taken into account. Make some runs with a full tank of gas (75.6-lbs) and then with two bars (about 12-lbs) showing and if you don't take into account the difference in vehicle weight, your hp readings will be way off. My own personal gTECH checklist:
1. Vehicle weighed prior to runs or at a minimum, same trunk goodies and level of gas.
2. Six runs minimum, three in each direction with best/worst thrown out, others averaged for charted time (or hp figure).
3. Wind no higher than 5mph in any direction.
4. Flat surface (or if you're simply doing comparo runs, SAME surface).
5. Runs began with excessive wheel spin (or in my case, ANY at all) are ceased immediately and I roll the car back for another try. I feather my clutch so I rarely, if ever, get tire chirps or spins...just smooth and quick punches.
The reason I'm posting this gTECH drivel is because my Tanabe Racing Medalion was 9.2hp peak on a dyno and my own gTECH results were in the 7hp range which is accurate considering gTECH's are affected by drag so their results are always going to reflect less than a comparable dyno result for any given modification.
