Expected oil consumption
Having just filled up my tank for the second time (delivery was last week, with a full tank), I checked my oil again. I checked the oil level after the tank was filled. Therefore, a couple of minutes elapsed, allowing the engine to cool a little.
Anyways, the oil level is still reading at the X just below the H (high) mark on the stick. I thought I should expect the first couple of fuel-ups would yield lower oil levels. Is this correct? Am I reading the oil at the right engine temperature?
I am about to finish with the break-in period. I understand this period to be the primary time for the rings to be seated (with oil?). However, if I'm not loosing any oil, is my break-in period over?
I want to take care of the car, so I can beat on it like a racer
Thanx

oil consumption vary from engine to engine. you just have to check frequently to make sure you dont let it drop below the lower limit. my new S has 2300 mi now and i have added 3/4 quart to it already. oil consumption is not a good indicator on the progress of the break-in preocess. just follow honda's recommendation.
I've heard of people going through oil on this car. My car is over two years old with about 50k miles on it and it never needs oil. I don't think I've ever had to add oil in between oil changes, even after going to the track. I do check it frequently though.
Mine sucked down about 1 1/2 quarts between 2,200- 2,400 miles. Just all at once, man was I surprised! For the first 4,000 miles and driving at high RPMs, my car would use some oil. Usually it was after some hard driving in the country, it might be down 1 X. I'm approaching 7,000 miles now and it has stopped using oil. From other post I have read on this board, every car seems to different. Is that because of the engine build (our F20C is a hand built engine) or the owner's driving habits, probably a little of both. So play it safe and just keep checking.
