Gosh darn it!

My new S2k only has 3,000 miles on it and the express window down is not working.

I'm not sure if this is means that the express window down switch is busted because I tested it with the top-down mechanism (ya know the mechanism that lowers both windows before the top retraction mechanism engages) and it also malfunctioned. So that confused me a bit.

The normal power window functions properly, but when you push the button that extra click for express down, the window drops only by about an inch and stops.

A couple of questions:
1. Has anyone encountered the same malfunction? If so, what did you/dealer end up replacing?
2. What component the PM assembly do you think is busted? Can you suggest any additional tests?
3. How concerned should I be about NVH given that the dealer will have to take the door panel off to replace the switch (if that's in fact the culprit)?

Your thoughts are most definitely appreciated. Thanks in advance. -KM.

I believe it is the window regulator which lowers the window. I think that there is a service bulletin on this problem. I tried looking for it in the Library Section but could not find it.

A local dealer here in Dallas told our club "Yeah, we keep a stock of those parts because we see it so often." It's not the switch - it's the regulartor thingy something or other.

Ironically, mine just started doing it today - at 37,900 miles.

Funny, mine just did it for the very first time yesterday, just before 36,000 miles.

Mine quit around 36K mi...dealer replaced the regulator (which is the motor that drives the window mecha). I works fine now but makes a little klunk sound when lowering.

Hey Elistan, which dealer was it? Do you know how long they take to replace the regulator thingy? Thanks.

I had a similar problem on my 01 Civic. If you put the window up and down several times it would go back to working right.

I was told on the Civic forum that the way the new Honda PWs senses the window is fully down is with an increased current/reduced voltage when the window hits the end of travel and the motor has to work harder. If I push down on the top of the window while operating Auto-down, it doesn't stop moving. So that verifies the supposition.

I was told to lubricate the weatherstripping to see if it would help. It didn't. Of course, our S2Ks have frameless windows so this doesn't apply.

I would hope my car doesn't develop the problem because I don't want my door taken apart.
