Default f22c swap in Ap1

after this week will be summer for me..college..... and its time to fix the S.......

Situation: I brought the car to Honda after the car stalled and died and had blown out white smoke from the exhaust. Honda concluded that it was due to hydro-lock. Which I thought it was funny because it wasn't raining that week.

So the S is sitting in the garage since last summer and I miss her. I've did some searching and decided to go ahead and drop a F22c into my ap1. What i understand is I can pretty much just drop the F22c in there and everything should bolt right up. For now I have an 02 ECU but will get an 01 later as it tends to make the S run a little richer. I know about the keys have to be programed with the ECU and everything.

My question is..... Is there anything else I am missing? The F20 cams are still usable, does it make a difference if I switch Cams? (probably not)

can BILLman chime in? because he's been through all of this.

Thanks for everyones responses.

hmm... should pull the same...What i have read when you run the ap1 ECU with the F22c it just help you stay in v-tec more....more of a perfermance mod.

i just did this last month.

everything will work as long as you get an 04 or 05 motor. 06+ has a different throttle body set-up. i chose a 2005 f22c long block and swapped everything from the ap1 to the ap2 engine.

i also used the ecu that came out of the same ap2 car. i didnt have to get my car reprogrammed because i also swapped the steering column and all the door/trunk/center console locks to the ap2 locks. this made it easier for me since i live 50 miles from the nearest honda dealership.

if you get a 06+ motor you will have to do research on what it takes to convert, but my guess is youll just have to use your ap1 intake manifold/tb setup. the ap1 cams will not do anything for you unless you do extensice tuning, i used the f22c cams.

i also used the ap1 tranny. if you use the ap2 tranny you will either have to use the ap2 driveshaft and rear diff, or get a driveshaft modified by an axle/driveshaft shop. they have different yokes/flanges

if you have any questions just pm me

you can still use a my06 motor just get a my05 or previous throttle body/intake manifold. It all bolts right up and works the same.

friend of mine did it here locally.

About the tranny is correct, you can retain the clutch/flywheel for ap2 on motor but you need ap1 tranny to bolt up with your shaft/diff. Ap1 flywheels are better in my opinion for the newer model motor. But that is my opinion.

thanks a lot for the reply.

I'm gonna use the ap1 tranny because its still good. I'm ordering the engine off of worldautoparts.com it should be around 4 grand for an 04-05 F22c motor. Also I'm gonna have an 00' ecu sometime next week.
