Ive put two F22's in my AP1.. an 06 & an 05.. the 05 swap was pretty straight forward. Like Bill said the only difference is a minor change on the fuel rail, either bend the tab or just reuse your AP1 rail. I also reused my AP1 flywheel.

The 00-01 ECU will run it fine, not that great of gas mileage though. An 04-05 ECU would be better since its tuned for it. I have revved my motors up to 9k (with lots of boost) that was on AEM EMS though. I never went above 8600 on the AP1 ECU. You dont make anymore power above ~8300, so unless you are drag racing there is really no reason to beat on it like that.

Lets air out the laundry (Termination I'm not thread jacking) All of us who has the F22c AP1 combo, could you list how high you take your redline revs?
I take mine aware from 8.4-8.6k, however when auto-xing, I'm known to hit 9k

Plenty of track miles now on my f22c in my '00 AP1. I usually shift on straights at @ 8,500 since there's no power benefit to running out higher. I do regularly though use those extra rpm regularly (even to bouncing it off the rev limiter) when I'm headed to corners where I'd rather not shift.

The return springs on the AP2 head are actually stronger; there should be no worries about the head/cams. The only value I could see in putting in the AP1 cams in the f22c would be if they better matched the ECU mapping. But if you're going that far you should probably be looking a an EMS of some sort and really tune your engine anyway.

I've had an F22C AP1 combo for a long while N/A and Boosted. I installed a set of Brian Crower Springs and Retainers just for piece of mind, and N/A ran it to 9k for over a year without a hiccup. Now that I'm boosted and have been for about 6 months, the rev's are going to 8800rpm. Still no problems in over 2 years of F22C over-revving!

Default F22 swap on 01’ ap1 Recommended way to tune?

My god I love this forum.
So I just picked up an ap1 2001 with an f22 motor and ap1 trans. It has the original ap1 ECU and I have no info on the existing tune. (The price was right) Seems like this is the a great setup based on this thread. It’s running great but I have concerns for overrev, performance with bolt one, and longevity and wanted to know what everyone else is using to tune. I know hondata allows you to change the rev limiter, but wasn’t sure if this was the best route or even possible due to the 2001 ecu.

All of you out there with this same setup, can you give me your recommendation?

Thanks!

PS, this is in fact an F22c, they just sold the ap2 valve cover for it.

I ran an F22c with the stock 01 ECU for a long time with no issues. I switched to the AEM standalone when I went turbo.

Just sold the car actually... over 7 years later and the F22c swap was still running strong and I'm sure it will continue to for the new owner. Definitely a great swap.

The ONLY physical mod will be to cut a small tab off the fuel line by the rail, if you use an AP2 fuel rail with an AP1 fuel line. And that is IT.

I would recommend keeping the AP1 flywheel as well.
i recently installed an ap2 engine in my ap1 but didnt cut any tab off the fuel line ...? Do you have a pic of what youre reffering to.?
