Default Faint Transmission/Differential fluid Smell

After driving the car around and getting it nice and hot, when I park I can briefly smell what seems like gear or tranny fluid for just a little bit. I only smell it for a few seconds and then it's gone. There are no leaks and both diff and transmission fluid were changed recently. I do track the car, though. Any ideas? I have about 225k miles.

Any chance of fluid having dripped onto the exhaust system during the fluid change ? I think it would be hard to smell if it was a leak, but any fluid that was heated up by the exhaust system could make it more noticeable. Sometimes you get that with motor oil changes, just wondering if the same thing happened with the tranny and diff fluid change.

Hmm that's a good idea I will try cleaning the exhaust pipe thoroughly!

gear fluid smells distinctly different from tranny fluid. either way, if no leaks, then those aren't your issue.

perhaps something is burning on your exhaust systems, but since the smell goes way after a few seconds, I would rule that out.

a smell that goes away after a few seconds sounds like hot rubber from your tires, or clutch.
