feels like power steering goes out
i have an ap2 (04) with 50k miles once in a while it feels like the power steering goes out so i've come to ask the experts. thanks in advance guys. i havn't check the power steering fluid or done anything yet. do you guys know where the reservoir for the fluid is. and other suggestions

There is no power steering fluid. We have an electronic power steering unit. If your power steering is cutting out, you probably have an electrical problem associated with the power steering unit.
Are you getting a CEL? Your best bet is to do a diagnostic of the problem. To do this, you should pick up a service manual.

When the power steering motor gets too hot (for whatever reason) the power to that motor is reduced, which will result in less power steering and (according to my service manual) no CEL.
When the motor cools down the power steering should be as it was.
Reading the OP's post I think that is what is going on.
I have no clue why the power steering motor gets too hot in the first place.
Maybe it isn't => faulty sensor / electronics?
Maybe it is => faulty motor / electronics?
Let us know what you find.

Hunh, a friend of mine has experienced this problem with his 01 while auto-xing and I even felt it when he let me take a few runs in his car. He was having battery trouble at the time if I recall correctly.
Sorry I was no help.

Honda says even cranking the wheel back and forth while sitting still's enough to overheat the EPS. If you're in a parking lot or sitting still and turning the steering wheel back and forth, this might happen to you.
Think about auto-Xing, it's kind of worst case for the EPS.
