I am thinking about changing the final drive. But in the Dec issue of honda tuning they say that you need to "be sure to make the necessary engine mods to ensure the life of your F20C". What mods are they talking about and what adverse effects could the gears have? Thanks

Someone must be able to answer this. I have seen many post from people with them but nobody has said what other things need to be done first. I was thinking about the 4.57s. I just want to do things right.

just put the gears in and worry about breaking them in for at least 500 miles. There are really no adverse effects to the engine. The engine is only revving a few thousands higher. Its not like it will rev at a constant 7500 rmp's on the highway

actually, break in is a lot shorter than that from the docs that rick gave me. it's more a matter of warming them up and cooling them down several times to make sure you're not going to have any heat expansion issues, and then you're good to go.

as far as i'm aware, you shouldn't expect any adverse effects. i personally run 4.77's and my only complaint is highway driving where i'm doing 85mph @ 5500 rpm's. the 4.57's, i'd imagine, would be much more bearable for longer distances.
