First Gear Mystery
So, my buddy has a 2001 S2000 that we just finally fixed (We had to replace the rear passenger axle, hub, and knuckle). He was driving it around for his first time yesterday. All was good up until last night. He went to take off from a light (Normally. Not race car like lol) And first gear went on him. It made a lot of clunking and harsh noises. After some looking around, things just don't add up. When he is in first gear with the clutch in, it seems normal. It goes into position just fine. But when letting off the clutch to get going, all you hear is rattling and pinging. Every other gear works, including reverse. No noise in any of them. And there are no holes anywhere in the tranny. The engine/transmission have 2400 miles and the car itself only has 39000. Any ideas on what this could be?
