Thumbs up First-Gear Syncro Dead?

As you all know, 1st gear can be hard to get into while rolling. I am having an issue where I either get fully locked out of 1st, or have to really just grind into it, whenever I am not at a full stop. Rev-matching seems to make the grind worse. Does this sound like a syncro problem, or is it normal operation for this tranny? Am I supposed to put it in 2nd when creeping at 5mph? Thanks.

theres a blocker that stops you from downshifting into first, you are not supposed to shift into first while your still moving, either come to a complete stop or put it in second

and yes it does sound like a syncro, dont do it anymore and you should be fine

Yes it does sound like a syncro. Don't push it hard in too 1st. You will wreck it fast.

Try double clutching - shift to neutral, blip the gas, then shift the 1st.

I do that everytime i have to cross a speed bump. Seems to help slip in easier and less grindy.

No..you do not have to come to a complete stop to engage 1st gear.

coming to a stop, i usually gently glide it in first...letting the synchros do its job. It'll go in no problem. No double-clutching needed. Don't jam it in or you'll get that wonderful grinding sound.

i should have stated that this is what i meant when i said rev-match. i meant double-clutching, which i do on nearly all my downshifts.

Yes. All the gears in the trans are synchronized, even reverse.
