Next option would be using a RENESIS from the RX-8. I'm sure it can be aquired cheaper, is smaller, and produces simlar output. A supercharger or turbo can be attached as well.

A crazy friend of mine actually wants to put a turbo'd RENESIS into a Miata. Talk about a pocket rocket ...

What can I say...I played football in HS and lifted weights for 2 years after that....Not a small framed guy by any means. I've driven a RX-8.....Sorry just not my style...Plus I didn't like the gearing of the transmission. It just seemed too tightly geared. Kinda like a Subaru WRX....I drove a 03 for 3 days...Man I got soo sick of shifting that thing every 2-3 seconds it seemed in town. I'll see what I can come up with though....

That's probably the RB26DETT, a 2.6 litre twin turbo inline six. The later generation GT-R Skylines came with a 6 speed transmission, but it also came with all wheel drive, so the transmission has a built in transfer case to drive both sets of wheels. I'm not too sure what engine and parts availability is like in North America, but I think it may not be a good as the SR. People have made some insane horse power with this engine though. Sort of like the inline six out of the Twin Turbo Supra. Have you thought about that Toyota engine?

Chris.
