It is important to clean minor surface rust off the flywheel? Won't the clutch disc do this, under normal use?

Thanks!

I would clean it. The rust that developed on mine happened after only four days of sitting in my trunk, so it isnt bad. Should be easy to clean off.

Just scuff it up a little with crocus cloth or steel wool in a circular pattern and you'll be good to go.
Regardless of mileage? I have a clutch going in shortly reusing my OEM ap1 flywheel with about 90,000km. I intended to take it to a shop to resurface it.
