Gear box Stickyness
Guys,
Had the S2 now for 6 months and everything was going like a dream, but over the past couple of weeks i have noticed that the gear change to 1st and reverse seems quite sticky and requires a fiddle in the box before selecting the required gear... Has anyone else experienced this type of problem after 27,000 miles?

27,000 miles in 6 months!!
Did you buy it second-hand?
If so it might be time to change the gearbox and diff oil.
Could be the cold weather!
Do you get the same problem when everything has warmed up?

Sorry,
The car is 4 years old...
Can the cold weather seriously affect it? It was cold yesterday, about 4 deg c...
When everything has warmed up, the problem is not as bad..
Had service today and i noticed that it felt alot more fluid changing gear. They changed the diff oil, need to check to see if they did the gearbox oil aswell..

If the transmission oil had never been changed, that was likely your problem. Honda uses what is essentially a fortified engine oil in its trannies, and the high pressures and revs will cause the fluid to shear down over time, as well as thicken. many here change it every year, which is not a bad idea.
i have the same thing!!!!!! it only seems to be this way when the car isn't warmed up... i just did the diff. and trans. fluid changes 2 days ago. my car has 24000 on it. it seems a little better now. i can def. feel the difference when i'm completly warmed up. then again it might be from the cold weather.... i don't remember this problem in the summer.
