I learned a lot about cars and fixing them and what not just by reading random threads that people post and eventually you pick up on automotive vocab and knowledge. Also first hand experience will obviously give you some knowledge too.

thats's pretty much the intended purpose, to teach you how to properly fix the car.....
How many manuals have you looked at Death? The subaru manuals are like Nissan manuals...pure crap. God, it was such a breath of fresh air coming back to honda manuals from subaru manuals. You'd better already know how to work on cars or the suby manuals are meaningless. Theory of operation? All over the place in the honda manual, not in the suby.

Suby manuals are basically reference books with no kind of commentary. Honda manuals are like novels. I could curl up with one in bed and read up on how the VSA works...
