Default General Tune up..

I have a stock S2000 and i feel like its been running kinda sloppy lately. A friend suggested to take it in for a service and a tune up. What is there to tune up? I have alignment, valve clearances and oils to do but is there something else that has to be tuned (like programming of ECU or adjustment of an engine component)??

Thanks

In general a tune-up consists of the following (this is NOT S2k specific)

Change Plugs
Change oil and filter
Change plug wires
PCV valve replacement
Belt check/tighten/replace (depending on condition)
throttle linkage lube (don't use WD-40 for this, please)
Air filter check/replace

That's about all I can think of off the top of my head... Older cars of course you'd change out the distributor cap and rotor, too. Fortunately, those days are gone now

So there really isn't anything to tune.. When you put a stock s2000 on a dyno for a dyno tune.. can anything be tuned there?

Nope, the stock ECU cannot be programmed. No such thing as a "tune-up" really, just regular maintainence for this car in stock form.

Your car is 7 years old, you might just want to get a really detailed service done on it -- all fluids/filters, check for leaks, etc. How many miles do you have on it? How's your clutch doing? A dying clutch might produce the "sloppy" effect you're describing, as can many other things, of course.

Change your transmission and diff fluids. This probably won't have an effect on your car but change your cabin air filter. Its the filter for your a/c. And maybe bleed your clutch or brake fluid. Thats all I can think of. You can check the mainantence link above the under the hood.
