I've had 5 track days with my GMSMFM but no tranny problems (yet, knock on wood). In the hot it shifts perfect. In the cold it needs no warmup and shifts just like in the hot IF AND ONLY IF I time my shift right (basically lift just a tiny bit and don't delay shifter). I have no experience on any other tranny fluid in this car so I have nothing to compare with but I don't expect other fluids to be any much better.

Let us know what you find once you drained the fluid.

EDIT: Oops just saw your previous post. I was going to suggest it could be clutch related. Scraping noise suggest some mechanical failure. My friend had a very similar symptom on the track as you did in his Euro E36 M3. Clutch was not fully disengaged. Noise with clutch depressed. Turned out his TO bearing was broken giving slop and could not release the clutch fully.

I have a feeling this what the problem is.

Sounds like dropping the tranny is in order. Let us know what you find.

Regarding GMSMFM, coincidentally I was thinking to replace my fluid with new one the past weekend but I found none from any GM dealer locally. As soon as they hear the part #, they quickly said this thing has been in back order for months. Too bad my cousin working at Honda is on vacation or else I would've tried Honda MTF this time. I guess I'll run one more track day (in a week) with the current fluid. Kind of off topic but I heard Motul has come out with a new tranny fluid targeted at substitute to Honda MTF. Anybody heard more details?

I've had GMSFM in for about 5K miles. No track days. The car shifts beautifully. At the moment, I wouldn't even consider something else.

I have had GMSMFM in mine for better than 30000 miles now...and I have no complaints. It is better than the Honda MTF which I HAD to change out after only 10000 miles (was hard to shift into first gear)...once I put in the new GMSMFM it fixed the hard to shift to 1st problem and shifts perfectly except in really cold weather and only then until it warms up. I would love to hear how things worked out for you with it though. I found out that you have to make sure you put enough of the GMSMFM in or it will be notchy like the old Honda MTF was...a little overfill is better than not enough.

GMSM FM is great on the street. Its a semi-syn so not exactly trackworthy. It doesn't hold up like MT-90, but it also isn't as notchy when cold.

[QUOTE=Jasonoff,May 15 2006, 05:27 PM] Humm...

I gave this a try. Rolling in first clutch fully depressed I get that scraping noise I mentioned. If I blip the throttle the nose goes away and as the rpm drop back down the noise comes back and I can feel the car slightly as if I was releasing the clutch slightly. It is not fully releasing from the flywheel. That
