Default On-going parts availability?

I've picked up that the Honda S2000 can live a long life if well cared for. Yet with my desire to keep my '01 AP1 running for a long, long time, and the knowledge that I'm hitting 100,000 miles very soon, I'm perplex with the ongoing news that Honda is discontinuing more and more AP1 parts. I'm tempted to be a parts horder and would want to buy something now that I might need in 2 or 10 years from now. How concerned should I be with parts continually deing discontinued? What should I buy now, if I can find it, to hold onto for who knows how long?

I don't think you'd lose $$ on most items 100% OEM in original packaging and unique to the S2000.

Even used AP1 motors are getting scarce.

Not only are S2000 parts being discontinued, the prices are going up every few weeks. A lot.

Anything you would recommend to get now for folks who want to keep their S? Somethings you have seen that you might need sooner or later?

^This. Guessing trim pieces will become rare, but wondering about mechanical aspects. I’d hope the aftermarket steps in...but who knows.

Usually when the OEM stops making parts an aftermarket company will step in and start making reproductions to take up the slack.

I have owned some odd ball vehicles in my day and it always seemed that I could find parts - even my old 66 Land Rover. I did a complete rebuild on that engine and I found all the parts, including oversize pistons and rings and bearings etc., somehow.

But, if you were to make a list of the top 25 or so oem s2k parts to hoard, what would make it on the list?

it seems like the answer to your question, those parts are already difficult if not impossible to source new and people are resorting to buying them used from junkyards.

Sorry to semi-hijack, but on the subject of replacement parts, can someone give me a rough estimate of the value of an ap1 engine in good health with 85k miles?
