Hey guys.

I have a 2002 with 25k miles on it and I seem to have a problem shifting into 3rd gear at high RPMS (~7.5-8k) whereby it grinds. This is the only shift I am getting this grinding issue from. I am starting to worry that it's the synchro. Is it a big PITA to get the 3rd gear synchro replaced? What am I looking at cost-wise? I didn't change the fluid yet but I am thinking that the fluid won't really fix the problem and just mask it. What am I looking at guys?

same problem here, I am going to change to Gm sncro fluid this weekend

 

Call a Honda dealership...my friend just got his 2nd gear synchro replaced in June and it wasn't too much. I can't remember though, I'll let you know when I talk to him.

 

Hmmm... I hope I would not be playing Russian Roulette at a Honda Dealership since I hear multiple horror stories. Don't know of any reputable Honda dealerships in the Tampa Bay area since I am kind of new here. I'm guessing 2nrwerks has been highly recommended but when I called information a couple of months ago, their phone was disconnected and they weren't listed when I called information.

Is common? (1-2nd or 2nd-3rd grind)
