Grinding Third Gear, and hard to get on First
Hey guys.
I've done some research but can't find anything in regards to my issue.
Hopefully someone has been through what I am going through and has a resolution thats not Syncros!
Anyways, regardless of temp the car is running at, third gear will grind at high rpms if not shifting slowly and smoothly. (From Second > Third)
And then theres getting back to the First gear when pulling to a stop or slowing down to First gear. Sometimes its just hard to push the lever into that gear! What gives? lol.
Any ideas?
Thanks all!

Hey guys thanks for reply!
Yeah blipping the revs wil always do the trick but I don't want it to be a problem though, making this technique the only solution to this problem
Oil has been changed to REDLINE!
Still same

First gear has a very strong synchro to prevent grinding, and likely to make it really really hard to select first by mistake when trying to downshift to third.
The faster the car is moving, the harder the synchro has to work to get first gear set up to speed, because the countershaft rotation is always locked to rear wheel speed. (And recall that fixed half of first is locked to the mainshaft, and the fixed half of reverse and second are also on the mainshaft, so the synchro is also spinning up the mainshaft, mainshaft hubs, and secind and reverse gears - a lot of rotational inertia.) To spin first gear et al faster, the synchro must push harder toward the gear, which means you must push harder on the shift lever. Your choices are push harder or help the synchro by spinning the gear with the clutch and throttle.
The other gears have lighter synchros, so it is easier to push too quickly through the synchro and grind, especially if it is worn.

Hey Thanks for replies!
That makes sense about design feature, but wondered why previous S2k didn't do it.
Mileage currently sitting on 124xxxkm's.
I have JUST adjusted to NIL free play. So far I feel like it's a little better. HOping its not in my head.
