Is this really just an issue for certain years of S2000? My 16 year old (81K mile) cat is fine....track use and all. But it seems a few people have had the same broken cat issue.

A defouler will 100% keep the o2 sensor from being sheared off, and it will also HELP the CEL to stay off (it will prevent code P0420 from creeping up should the cat ever become inefficient)

Adding a defouler to any S2000 with a stock cat is valuable insurance.

On the same token, if you gut the cat, use the defouler to keep the CEL off.
so you're saying that you can use a defouler with an oem cat (non-gutted) and it won't throw a cel? would there be enough airflow/readings?
I had to stack two of them together to stop the cel. All good for about 2,000 miles now. My cat was aftermarket. The insides broke apart very easily when I gutted it.

ok…this thread is back from the dead…but, I want to be sure that the defouler goes into the cat.

I just picked up a vibrant o2 spacer/defouler.

thanks…like a zombie
