Tire pressures could also be a problem. Everytime I get new tires they put in like 50% too much pressure in the shop. Makes the car drive like on glass.

But the #1 suspect is the alignment. Please post the values they set it to!

Oh, and David with the 2 new tires on the right, you'll absoultely need new ones on the left as well or you car will never go straight.

There'll be a massive difference in circumference, and you might even damage your LSD with uneven rears.

Thanks for the replies. Pressure in the new right rear was high, which has improved the situation from dangerous down to just worrying. I'm off for 6 weeks (don't trash my house while I'm away) so will sort it out when I'm back.

I'll get the alignment checked when I'm back. Martin, your second comment was the one that I was concerned about. I'm hoping someone will confirm or deny the advice to replace the left tyres as well while I'm away. Anyone have a rule of thumb of how different is acceptable, and where one should definitely change?

Hope you don't take offense that I don't want to replace the tyres on just one guy's say-so. Those tyres are expensive in South Africa!

Front were fine but got them balanced to be safe. I'm going Sat. to get it fixed hopefully.
The Kumho Ecsta AST is a pretty rubbish tire to put on an S2000. Not even close to the stock Potenzas. It ceases to amaze me how people spend on hoods, wheels, intakes, etc. and they ignore such a crucial part of the car.

I just needed a cheap tire for my stocks while I get new rubber wrapped on my 18s. It ceases to amaze me how people pass judgment on others without know them or all the details about whats going on. By the way problem has been solved. Got new alignment, new axles, and in the process of purchasing new suspension. thanks guys for the help. you guys were right about the bumpstops and the shitty alignment.

I'm bettin' tires.

I'm also betting you cheaped out on the tires.

I'm also bettin' you went with rated sizes and didn't check real sizes of the tires.

I'm bettin' your rear tires are significantly narrower than they should be.

Many, MANY tires are a lot different widths than the rated size would indicate. When shopping for 18" tires I found as much as 2.5" difference in width for the same rated size.

The reason I'm bettin' you cheaped out on the tires is that the non super-de-duper high performance rated tires tend to be the narrowest in the larger sizes.

Now throw a lousy or inconsistent alignment into that mix and you'd get just what you got. Don't ask me how I know all this.

not sure if "wild and crazy" is talking at me, but the replacement tyres I got are stock Potenzas. Can't say I measured them myself though. Still hoping someone can give me a feel for what sort of difference in tread is a problem. 10,000 miles seemed quite small, but reading other posts on the forum suggests that the stock tyres tend to wear a lot more quickly that "standard for other car" tyres. In fact, I think the manual even says this!
