Default hard starting when hot

i have a 2007, starts fine when cold, but when hot it cranks over slowly and almost doesn't start. i did a load test on the battery, and it tests fine. is this a known problem? i would guess that the starter motor is bad, but it only has 12K miles on it. any ideas?

There have been posts on this before but I haven't seen any definitive solutions, but I think you have identified the two common sources - battery and starter. Given that your starter only has 12k miles on it I would tend to suspect the battery first.

I know my car used to be harder to start when it was hot, I have since replaced the battery and starter so I can't say which one solved the problem.

If the fluid in a battery over-heats it will cause starting issues that won't show up on a load test.
Do you have an aftermarket header ?, I used to have an exposed Mugen header, then I put the heatshield on the header and I made a reflective heat wrap collar for the battery as insurance.

Yup I had a PLM header and after a good run. The car would have hard time starting, but after a few minutes it would start fine. The battery gets heat soaked.
