Default starter problems after long drive times

I'm having issues starting my ap2 after long drive times say..14+ miles. I have to let my car cool down before I can start it again.. just the other day it took 2 hours before I could start it again. Was wondering if anybody was having the same issues.

46k miles on vehicle.
clutch and flywheel replaced 3 years ago.

What condition is your battery in ?, is your battery sitting near a header or turbo without a proper heat shield ?, if your battery gets too hot it can exhibit that problem.

battery is 3 years old was changed when I first purchased the vehicle, all stock as well no mods. just a question, is there a heat shield around the battery? I'm not to sure..this is my first s2k so I would have no clue.

I have this problem. Starts every time when cold, but when its hot it wont even crank, nothing happens when i press the button.

Sometimes if i touch one of the pedals it fires straight in, very strange.

just the black metal heatshield that runs parrallel with the engine and mounts to the frame rail between the battery and engine. If you have that in place then it probably isn't a battery heat issue.

I do have the heat shield in place. Would the starter have a heat issue? That is about the only thing I could think of.

Yeah mine was doing the exact same thing, until recently I tried pushing the pedals..won't even start after that now. I'll mostly likely have my friend check on Identifix to see if there are any issues maybe somebody has come across this problem and has a fix I'll update as soon as he gets back to me.

If you find the problem, or a solution could you message me with your findings?

I had this problem many years ago after installing a engine designed to operate on a 12volt system in a six volt system Ford. I know that this is not your problem but it probably is a low voltage problem caused by a bad alternater or starter. Have both checked.GL
