Hardtop Adjustment q.???
I had my Hardtop installed last year when I purchased my car, and it had this constant wind noise in the middle of the front. So today I put it back on, and the noise it terrible. Then me and a friend got to looking and saw that it is about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch too far back. I looked down the front of the top where it meets the windshield frame, and you can see a gap all the way down, and everywhere else, it is too far to the back of the car. Does anyone know how to adjust the whole top foward some? If not I am going to make a trip to the dealership, but I really want that to be a last resort.
the two plastic panels behind the windows come off. behind them, there are three bolts which hold the locking mechanism to the top, allowing for adjustment forward/back and up/down, and then two more bolts in a different plane that allow for adjustment right/left.
check the instructions for the installation of the top; it has the specs for the various gaps.
does your hardtop creak/squeak/groan like crazy?

Before you go ripping panels off, check the following:
1. Are you locking in the windshield latches FIRST, before you cinch down the rear anchors? You are always supposed to do the front latches first.
2. Can you be absolutely sure that the little hooks on the front of the top is grabbing the forwardmost indentation on the windshield striker plate. Another owner here reported some months ago that his soft top had a similar gap on his and it wasn't till he looked at it very closely that he only has the hooks caught on the rearmost divot on the striker plate. Once he latched it in the proper place, it fit as it should.

Thanks, both of you, xviper, the top is too far back everywhere along the top, even behind the side windows.

I have had the same problem and it appears fairly common, however I think I have found the simple answer or at least it appears to be working.
Before you take the big step of adjustment(except if the top is a new addition to the car) take the top off and clean the rubber seal as well as the top of the plastic rail around the bodywork of the car. Then, using a piece of cloth soaked in Autoglym Instant Tyre Dressing liberally coat both surfaces to thoroughly wet them. Do not rub it in but just let it dry off (it never really dries as it leaves a coating). Then just refit the top and silence reigns !! Or so far so good !!
