okay well my story is not so happy any more. i replaced the radiator with a new OEM from HONDA. all was well for about a month and then tonight after eating dinner it happened again. for this whole month it has been nothing but hard driving. i have actually gone through alot more tanks of gas than i normally do in a month. i even checked the coolant level right before i left to go eat and it was full!!

im at a complete loss once again on this car. i do not know what is causing this at all. im not sure what else to do PLEASE HELP ME!!!! ANY AND ALL suggestions will be taken into consideration if not already been performed. i need this car to work!!!

Have you tried bleeding the system as the guy on the second page recommended? It really sounds like its just an operator error within bleeding the system. If you've performed the leakdown tests, coolant pressure tests and mulitple lithium tests with no failures then theorectically there shouldnt be air entering in the system. Just slow down to try that, don't go throwing more parts on it until you can actually narrow down the issue.

To SS04- Im not exactly sure that I would trust running a mishi rad. cap knowing the first one was defective, and a simple radiator pressure tester can test radiator caps as well (at least my matco one can) with the right test adapter. That would've saved alot of headache real quick.

I hope this helps out, please keep us informed. I don't mean to sound like a dick i'm just trying to keep you guys from blowing money on parts that won't fix the issue.

well i have tried just about every way of bleeding the system as my mechanic did as well. im positive i had it all out or i wouldnt have been able to drive the car like i did for a little more than a month with out a single problem.

as for a cracked head im hoping not, but i posted this again in my local forum and they have sent me over to a different mechanic which is where the car went this morning. i will definately keep everyone update on this. im crossing my fingers it doesnt break my bank!!!

You see, I said cracked head because it has to be something that expands and causes air to enter the cooling system when hot but then when cold the leak closes back up again... I may be totally off the mark but just my suggestion

It depends on the ambient air temperature. It takes 20 minutes + for my radiator to warm up in freezing temperatures.

for this last month it been about 60 consistently. until today when i dont have my car and it was 78 and tomorrow is supposed to be 82!! UGH! WHY SUCH BAD LUCK!

anyhow i do agree ss04 it has to be a head problem. im hoping its not a crack, cuz that means a new head most likely, but just a ruptured HG. much easier fix compared to a crack. still both are expensive and im not really looking forward to what they are going to say, but out of the 2 im hoping i dont have to buy a new head!

s2kVTAK: what prompted you to replace the suspected sticky t-stat originally? was it stuck open or stuck closed and overheated?
