oh... I wonder if that initial overheat caused something to warp/crack. Good luck to you man!

i thought the same thing as well!

well after taking the car to the very much recommended 4 star auto here in tulsa OK, we have come up with the same results. lots of air in the coolant and absolutely no sign what-so-ever of a HG leak or head crack or anything!!! this shop on deals with honda and acura products and has one of the top NSX mechanics around here. still we can not find a problem. the only suspision is that maybe the thermostat we installed was faulty and it catching/sticking every now and then. so we will start there and throw in another one.

that makes 3 top mechanic shops around here that are stumped. ill keep everyone up to date, but as of now its friday and i gotta wait till monday to know anymore. BIG THANKS to everyone that has posted some insight and suggestions on this subject. it is VERY much appreciated.

okay well we have some kind of results. upon pulling the stat they noticed that mine looked new except it did not have a little hole in the top edge. i guess that the thermostat that my other mechanic replaced was not infact an OEM stat and for some reason did not have a hole. they said the purpose of this hole was to allow the small air bubbles to pass and be removed. the only thing we can think of is that this was trapping some air and causing my intermittent issue.

we will see in time but im confident this will fix it

S2kVTAK

So how is your car running now? Mine has been acting the same way. I have been researching for some time to find out why and this thread has been a great help. Im sure either my tstat gets stuck closed at times or I have air in my system. Maybe my cap is bad. I only have 23k miles on mine so its hard to believe my tstat or rad cap could be bad.

Since you replaced your tstat, have you overheated? Did you also replace your rad cap?

the car has been great ever since we replaced the thermostat again. like i said earlier the thermostat the we replaced the sticking on with did not have the little bleeder hole in the outer ring of it. the newest one does. during the process of trying to figure out the problem i did replace the mishimoto radiator with a new OEM from honda. it came with a new cap. i would suggest going to HONDA and getting a new cap and then try bleeding a little air out of the system. a new cap is not very much and this could fix the problem without much headache. if you bleed the system and get very little or no air out of it, then i would suspect that the thermostat is sticking a little. this is not un common and can happen. you can replace your thermostat yourself. the guys i took it to in the end said it was very easy, however after looking at it again i dont think i would be up to it. usually ill try and tackle anything at least once to save money, but the location of this just looks like a pain in the ass. definately possible but i didnt want to mess with it.

try buying a new cap from your dealership and maybe bleeding the air out of the system. then if all that fails try a new stat. my bet tho right now is just that the cap may be worn out. has the car ever overheated on you and popped the pressure cap? if so, once a radiator cap releases pressure it gets weak and should be replaced. just a thought for you to think about

I will try the cap and a bleed. Where is the bleed by the throttle body? I see something that looks like a regulator bolted next to the intake manifold towards the front drivers side of the engine. It looks different that the bleed on the firewall that is why Im unsure if its it. It has hoses going to it though.

Thanks
